Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting
Palpable fear has gripped residents of terrorism-ridden Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State as the newly-transfered Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to the police station has been allegedly abducted by suspected terrorists along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
His alleged abduction came just 24 hours after Stonix News reported that Ansaru terrorists group had issued a ban on political activities in the area.
A witness told newsmen that the kidnap incident happened around 9:00 a.m on Monday on his way to Birnin Gwari to resume duty.
It was not not clear if the officer was travelling alone in his vehicle when he was abducted.
Multiple sources, however, have confirmed that since he left Kaduna, he was yet to be seen or heard.
Sources affirmed they have spoken with him on his way to Birnin Gwari, saying, “From our own investigations, he (DPO) had not reported there.”
It was also gathered that all his GSM lines were not going through since he embarked on the journey.
As of the time of filing the report, the police are yet to react or issue an official statement on the alleged abduction.
