Olu Of Warri Leads Spiritual Renewal At Annual Kingdom Thanksgiving

THE Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, has been commended by the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his sustained efforts in promoting peace, unity and security within the Warri Kingdom.

The commendation was delivered on Sunday during the Warri Kingdom Annual Thanksgiving Service, held at the Aghofen (Olu Palace).

Governor Oborevwori, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, praised the revered monarch for leading the kingdom in thanksgiving to God and for fostering harmony across Iwere land.

He urged the Olu of Warri to remain steadfast in championing peace and stability, noting that traditional leadership plays a critical role in sustaining development and social cohesion.

The governor also highlighted key infrastructural projects undertaken by the state government in the area, including the completion of 19 bridges and strategic access roads, notably the Trans Ode-Itsekiri Road, aimed at improving connectivity and economic activity.

In a symbolic display of faith and gratitude, Ogiame Atuwatse III, accompanied by members of the royal family and chiefs, danced joyfully to the altar, expressing hope and confidence that God is set to positively rewrite the story of the Warri Kingdom.

The monarch reaffirmed his trust in God, stating that he would continue to rejoice in the Lord while praying for good health, peace and prosperity for the people of Iwere land.

The thanksgiving service featured a sermon by Bishop Bawo Atone, who thanked God for His mercy upon the Warri Kingdom. Special prayers were offered for the Olu of Warri, the kingdom, Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

The celebration also included a vibrant Praise Day, with various choirs, gospel groups and artistes filling the church with uplifting songs of praise and worship. Performances were delivered by the Iwere Praise Choir, Joy Praise Band, Triumphant Baptist Church Ubeji, Ulu Band, Taiwo Atikpekpe, the RCCG Choir, among others.

Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Annual Praise and Thanksgiving Committee, Chief Ebiyemi Omatseye, expressed gratitude to the Olu of Warri for the opportunity to serve, affirming that the kingdom’s praises and thanksgiving had been accepted by God.
