Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

LEADING governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is a dedicated member and communicant at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Brig. General Oneya Road, G.RA, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed by the Parish Priest of the church, Very Rev Fr Mark Ikeke, in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday.

Stonix News reports that there has been unfounded rumours doing the round, for political exigencies, that Omo-Agege, who’s the current Deputy President of the Senate, is a worshiper of Igbe, an African traditional deity.

But Rev. Ikeke, perhaps moved to set the records straight, in the statement issued on Saturday, affirmed that Omo-Agege is a baptized, practising and dedicated member of the Roman Catholic Church.

The statement reads in part:

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Bar. Ovie Omo-Agege is a baptized, practicing and dedicated member of the Roman Catholic Church.

“He is a member of and a communicant in St. Jude Catholic Church, GRA, Effurun in Uvwie LGA.

“The sole purpose of this information is to encourage decorum and also to uphold the truth regarding the Senator’s religious identity.”
