Police Officer Takes Own Life In Niger

TRAGEDY struck in Niger State over the weekend when Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shafi’u Bawa was found dead in his room, with his body hanging from the ceiling.

Stonix News reports that the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide.

ASP Bawa, prior to his death, was attached to the 61 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Niger State.

His father, Mallam Usman Bawa, discovered the body and alerted the authorities, reporting the incident to the Kontagora Police Division.

According to reports, ASP Bawa’s lifeless body was taken to the General Hospital in Kontagora, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.

His remains were later released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and further developments will be communicated in due course.
