DELTA State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Commissioner representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West Local Government Areas, Mr. Bright Abeke, has donated a brand-new electricity transformer to residents of Abeke Road in Sapele.
Residents expressed excitement as the transformer was brought to the street and installed, giving thanks to the commissioner by singing praises of his name.
Speaking with journalists, Abeke said that residents of the area had been experiencing epileptic power supply for many years due to overloading of the only available transformer.
Abeke said that when the Benin Distribution Company (BEDC) was notified, the residents were asked to come together to get a new transformer.
The cost of the transformer was out of the reach of residents hence they decided to continue managing the epileptic power.
The DESOPADEC commissioner said when the information filtered into his ears, he decided to intervene and provide a new transformer to engender steady enable power supply for the people.
Mr.Justice Opiopie, the Head of Landlords at Abeke Road, on behalf of the landlords and residents of the road, thanked Mr. Abeke for being sensitive to their plight.
He prayed God to use him to do greater things for the people in his mandate area.
