IN a powerful display of solidarity and gratitude, women from across Rivers State, under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS), converged at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt on Thursday for a special thanksgiving service marking the second anniversary of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration.
Describing the gathering as an expression of appreciation for Governor Fubara’s steadfast leadership amid ongoing political turbulence, the women said the thanksgiving was not only to commemorate his time in office, but also to seek divine intervention for peace, restoration, and sustained progress in Rivers State.
“Despite the prevailing challenges, Governor Fubara has exhibited remarkable composure and competence in leadership. He is worthy of celebration,” the group declared in a communiqué.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the women, Dr (Mrs) Queen Idanyingi Karibi Botoye underscored the significance of prayer and unity during difficult times. She stressed that Rivers women remain devoted to interceding for the state and its leadership.
“We call on our leaders to put aside their differences, prioritise the people’s welfare, and collaborate for the betterment of Rivers State. The time has come for reconciliation and rebuilding,” Dr Karibi Botoye stated.
The group also expressed gratitude to Nigerians who have continued to stand in solidarity with Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State. They voiced confidence that peace and unity would be fully restored across the state.
Reaffirming their commitment to ongoing prayer and civic support, the women declared their unwavering faith in God’s guidance for a more peaceful and prosperous Rivers State.
