AHEAD of the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State, six federal House of Representatives members elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the Accord Party.
Speaking in Osogbo on Monday, the lawmaker representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, Alamo Olohunwa, who spoke on behalf of the other five representatives, said their projections indicate Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure victory with 80 per cent of the vote.
“We’ve done our calculations, and the result is that Adeleke won with 80 per cent, and the other party split the remaining 20 per cent among themselves,” he said.
“On behalf of Mahruf Adewale in Osogbo, Bamidele Salam in Ede, Soji Adetunji in Ikirun, Mudashiru Lukman Alani in Iwo, Larne Oladebo in Irewolede Isokan, all of us from today become members of Accord Party.”
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Osun West, Lere Oyewumi, stated that the PDP crisis at the national level may affect good governance in Osun, hence the need for Adeleke to pursue his re-election bid through the Accord Party.
He urged residents of the state to vote for the Accord Party on August 15, 2026, noting that the PDP in the state has adopted Adeleke as its candidate.
“What we are doing is to let the whole world know where the PDP in Osun will put our votes. We all know that there is a crisis in our party which may affect the good governance in Osun,” he said.
“All of us from different wards in Osun, when you get home, go and tell them that we are voting for the Accord Party on August 15. Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a ticket in Accord and we are adopting him as our candidate to vote for on August 15.”
The PDP Chairman in the state, Sunday Bisi, disclosed that following extensive consultations with party elders, leaders across the three senatorial districts, and other stakeholders, the party had resolved to direct all its structures from polling units to the state executive to give “total, unalloyed and uncompromising support” to Governor Adeleke’s re-election under the Accord platform.
In his remarks, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the PDP and the Accord Party for what he described as their maturity, sacrifice, and collective commitment to the continuity of governance in Osun State.
“I want to urge all of you that by August 15th, you should vote massively for the Accord Party, then victory is guaranteed for us,” he said.
“I thank the family of PDP because I am part of the family, I thank you all for the endorsement of today and accept it wholeheartedly. I want to thank the Accord Party for accepting me.”
