STONIX News Reporter and Fact-Checker, Rita Enemuru, has been shortlisted for the African Fact-Checking Awards under the Student Journalist category in Ghana.
This was contained in a mail sent by Africa Fact-Check Submit and made available to Stonix News on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
According to the mail, Rita’s fact-check on: “Claim That Federal Government Has Mandated DNA Test For Newborns Is False, Misleading,” which was published in stonixnews.com on April 6, 2024, was among the shortlisted fact-checks for the awards.

Resourceful Rita has also been graciously invited to participate in the 2024 Africa Facts Summit event which will be held in Accra, Ghana, from the 9th to 10th October, 2024.
The summit will draw the curtains with the African Fact-Checking Awards Gala Dinner, where the winners from among the shortlisted applicants and categories, will be announced.
The African Fact-Checking Awards, according to Africa Check, is the longest-running awards programme honouring fact-checking journalism by the media in Africa.

The 11th Edition of the ward has three categories: Fact-Check of the Year by a Working Journalist, Fact-Check of the Year by a Professional Fact-Checker and Fact-Check of the Year by a Student Journalist, under which Rita was shortlisted.
We recall that Rita cut her teeth in professional Fact-Checking after she attended a top-notch training workshop in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital early in the year courtesy of the International Press Centre (IPC).
