A suspected thief has allegedly vanished with a parcel containing about $75,000, equivalent of N43,000,000, at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
The incident, The Punch had reported, occurred on Wednesday, and was said to have created some tension at the secretariat where forms were being sold to aspirants under a canopy.
Some renovation work is being carried out at the party’s secretariat main building leading to overcrowding at the gate.
The Punch reported that the $75,000 had gone missing amid the crowded struggle at the main entrance to the party secretariat premises.
“When the parcel of money dropped, it went missing in a flash.
“By the time security operatives were alerted, the thief had vanished with the envelope,” a party source mooted.
Party sources, however, disclosed that the missing money was in no way connected to the monies from the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms as aspirants are expected to make deposits in the designated account numbers before picking up their forms at the Buhari House.
The secretariat had earlier been a beehive of activities as aspirants trooped in to obtain forms for various electoral offices.
