Terrorists Kill DPO, Sergeant, Vigilantes, Abduct Women

TERRORISTS have attacked Maru Police Station, headquarters of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), a police sergeant, a vigilante member and abducting women.

Stonix News gathered that the terrorists carried out the attack on Saturday in large number after storming the town with the intention of abducting the residents of the area.

The DPO, Kazeem Raheem, and two other policemen, met their death when they confronted the terrorists in a gun duel.

One Mallam Mohammed Amadu, who narrated what happened said ”The bandits, who were in large number, stormed the town on Saturday night and launched an attack on the community in the area.

“Many of us took to our heels and ran into the bush to escape the attack, some women were abducted.

“On getting the information of the attack, the Divisional Police Officer of the Local Government, Kazeem Raheem, mobilized his men and some vigilantes in order to chase away the bandits but they were over powered.

“Unfortunately, the DPO, a police sergeant called Rabiu Bagobiri and one vigilante member Shehu Chika, were killed.”

As of the time of filling the reports, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, has yet to issue a statement on the attack.
