Yahoo Yahoo: Again, 50 Nigerians Disgrace Nigeria In Ghana

THE Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested about 50 Nigerian nationals and a landlord in a sweeping dawn operation at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality of Accra.

The group is suspected of involvement in cybercrime and human trafficking.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with other national security agencies, followed intelligence that some foreign nationals were illegally residing in the area and may have been trafficked into Ghana to engage in online fraud.

“This operation follows intelligence gathered on the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area, some of whom were trafficked into the country and forced into cyber fraud by their facilitators,” said Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at GIS.

According to Graphic Online, a Ghana-based news medium, the landlord of the premises, believed to be central to the alleged illegal activities, was also taken into custody.

Officials say the individuals arrested are currently being screened as investigations continue.

The McCarthy Hills raid is the latest in a series of operations targeting cybercrime and human trafficking networks operating in Accra’s residential areas.

Recall that in April 2025, 219 foreign nationals, including minors, were arrested during a similar operation at Oyarifa in the Ga East Municipality.

That raid exposed a large-scale syndicate involved in trafficking and online scams.

GIS has pledged to intensify surveillance and crackdowns on such networks, especially in residential communities that are increasingly being used as bases for transnational crimes.
