A 15-year-old boy was found shot to death at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
According to Houston Police Department (HPD), the fatal shooting occurred in the 9200 block of Burdine Street at around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers stormed the area after receiving several calls from residents who claimed to have heard gunshots or fireworks.
Bobbye Jones told our source, ABC13, that she saw a body lying next to her back patio as she was coming home and called the police right away.
“I was getting my stuff together to get my door and come in. I almost stepped on him and said, ‘Oh! That’s weird.’ I went around and stopped and said, ‘That doesn’t look right. Let me call 911,'” Jones said.
Once officers arrived, Stonix News learnt that the teenager was found in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased girlfriend, while speaking with newsmen, said the two of them and his sister were visiting relatives in the apartment complex for Christmas.
They were actually waiting for the bus to go home when the shooting occurred.
“Me and his sister were waiting for him at the bus stop, and five minutes in, we were like, ‘What’s taking so long?'” the girlfriend recalled through her tears. “We were screaming his name, like ‘Babam! Babam! Babam!’ Which is his nickname, and we didn’t get a callback. I called his phone 26 times, and it went straight to voicemail.'”
As of the time of filing this report, no suspect had been taken into custody.
This investigation is ongoing.
