ABEOKUTA – Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the lawmaker representing Ogun West and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has lavished praise on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and elder statesman Chief Olusegun Osoba following his adoption as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The endorsement was sealed at a well-attended APC Caucus Strategic Meeting at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, where Governor Abiodun announced the decision with the unanimous backing of key aspirants and stakeholders.
In a statement released shortly after the announcement, Senator Adeola described his emergence as a product of unity, equity, and collective resolve. He particularly thanked President Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their unwavering commitment to fairness.
“I must specially thank President Tinubu for his mentorship, guidance and support in my political life and journey. He, alongside Her Excellency, Senator Tinubu, has always supported my aspirations over the years,” Adeola said.
The Senator noted that the decision marks a “historic shift” in favour of Ogun West Senatorial District, which has yet to produce a governor in the five decades since the state’s creation.
He also paid glowing tribute to Governor Abiodun and the First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, for their steadfast backing. “The Governor stood by me when I crossed over from Lagos State to Ogun West as a Senator and has always supported my development initiatives,” he recalled.
Senator Adeola was equally effusive in his praise for Chief Olusegun Osoba, the former governor and APC leader, describing him as a father figure. “Baba Osoba, as I fondly call him, worked tirelessly day and night for my aspiration. As a former governor and elder statesman, he guided me rightly at critical junctures.”
He further acknowledged former governors Senator Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun for their contributions, as well as the state APC executive led by Chief Yemisi Sanusi for managing the process with maturity.
Addressing his fellow aspirants, Adeola struck a conciliatory tone: “I sincerely thank all my co-aspirants for their understanding and commitment to the party’s consensus principle. There are no winners or losers. The APC family has emerged stronger and more united.”
He issued a rallying cry to all support groups and party faithful across Ogun State, urging them to set aside division and mobilise for decisive electoral victories. “In unity lies our strength, and in our shared purpose, we will secure a brighter future for Ogun State. Together, we will rise, together we will build, and together we will win.”
Senator Adeola assured that, if given the mandate, his administration would usher in a new phase of people-centred development driven by innovation, economic expansion, and improved social welfare, while building on the foundations laid over the past seven years.
