Prison officials have killed four inmates of Ife Prison, Ile- Ife, Osun State during a Jail-Break attempt on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at the premises of the prison located at Kosere, along Ifewara road.
Reports say the inmates were trying to escape through fence scaling, leaving four killed and scores injured.
Other inmates, who initially joined the fray were said to have later retreated to their cells.
A prison official, who made this known on the condition of anonymity, said the inmates had been planning the escape for weeks.
Reports say the prison officials have positioned themselves in strategic places to prevent further attempt of escape.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) in the state, Mr Sola Adeotan, could not confirm the incident, but said the prison boss in the state, Mr Amoran had visited the scene on Tuesday afternoon on an on-the-spot assessment.
