A 90-year-old “crazy supporter” of Chelsea FC, Pa Ebenezer Sunday Alao, an Auto Electrical Engineer who was resident in Abuja, but from Ogori, in Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State, has passed.
The ardent football lover joined the saints triumphant, on April 18, 2024, at the age of 90 in Abuja.
A devout Christian, Pa Alao was born on August 25, 1934, to the family of Pa Joseph and Mrs Ajike Alao, at Ogori, Ogori-Magongo LGA of Kogi State.

According to one of his daughters-in-law, Mrs Joy Alao, in a statement obtained by Stonix News, Baba fell ill a week before his death, and was undergoing and responding to medical treatment before he finally passed.
“He put calls across to his children assuring them he was going to be fine. But in the morning of Thursday 18th April, 2024, he had his morning devotion, as usual, with his wife, peacefully.
“He sang and clapped to show appreciation to God for reviving him. Just as the prayer was being rounded off, strength failed him and he gently laid down.
“He was rushed to the University of Abuja Specialist Hospital, Gwagwalada, that morning where he finally gave up on 18th April, 2024,” Joy noted, while reminiscing his last moments.
The remains of the beloved nonagenarian will be laid to rest Papa in June 28, 2024 at his home town, Ogori, in Ogori Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Christian exemplar left behind nine children, 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Education and Career
He attended St. Peters Anglican School, Ogori, where he graduated with Standard Seven Certificate. Thereafter, he left for Lagos where he briefly stayed with his elder brother who was a police officer in search of greener pastures.
This feat later took him to Kano where he decided to learn a skill in Auto Electrical Engineering, passing all the certificated Trade tests with excellent grades.
Marriage and Marital Life:
Pa Ebenezer Alao worked and lived all his life in Sabon Gari, Kano City. He was married to his wife Mrs. Sarah Iwalewa Alao. He loved his wife so much that they were always found moving together to everywhere like identical twins.
They were blessed with nine children, 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. It is worthy of note that all their children were born in Kano City, Nigeria.
With the frequent religious disturbances in Kano that distablised his auto electrical business, Pa Alao finally relocated with his family to Gwagwalada, Abuja 20 years ago where they have been managing their lives till date.
His Last Moments
Papa Alao, an easy-going gentleman and an Elder in the Church, lived an exemplary life of a true Christian; prayerful, meek, respectful, cheerful, lover of people and hardworking.
He never missed his Midweek and Sunday church services at Miracle Hope of God International Church, Big Sheda-Kwali, Abuja, Nigeria.
The church gave him and his wife an award as the most punctual member of the church. Aside, he had, several times, enjoyed the Prophet’s reward for faithfulness and dedication to God as a covenant partner and a mover for advancement of the kingdom.
At his old age, he belonged and was dedicated to the Prayer Warrior group of his church.
His love for Sports and News broadcast was topnotch.
Papa was a football lover and was a crazy supporter of Chelsea Club aka the Bluz/Billionaires Club.
He liked to watch and listen to NTA and Channels News, Emmanuel and Mercy TV, Children Cartoons, Radio Nigeria, Lean-On-Me by Tony Amole, Berekete Family, Dem Say-Dem Say and Baba Sebi Oba Live Prayer Broadcast.
Cause Of Sickness And Death
Baba fell ill a week before his death. He was undergoing medical treatment and was responding very well.
He put calls across to his children assuring them he was going to be fine. But in the morning of Thursday 18th April, 2024 he had his morning devotion as usual with his wife peacefully.
He sang and clapped to show appreciation to God for reviving him. Just as the prayer was being rounded off, strength failed him and he gently lied down.
He was rushed to the University of Abuja Specialist Hospital, Gwagwalada, that morning where he finally gave up on 18th April, 2024.
Having been kept in Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for four days, the family unanimously agreed to relocate his remains to a morgue at Lampese, Akoko Edo LGA, Edo State, for safe preservation until he would be finally interred.
Papa translated at 90 years leaving nine children, 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Papa will be greatly missed by his immediate family members, brothers, church and Angwan Dodo Community members, and many others who knew him as a man of the people.
Papa shall be finally laid to rest on the 28th of June 2024 at his home town, Ogori, Ogori Magongo LGA of Kogi State, Nigeria.
May His gentle soul and the faithfully departed continue to rest in perfect peace.
