He expressed deep frustration over the loss, emphasising that his brother had several vehicles under repair, some of which were completely consumed by the flames.

In addition, a nearby vulcanizer also suffered a major setback. According to sources, he had just stocked up brand-new tires worth hundreds of thousands of naira on the very day of the accident.

In a bid to attract potential buyers, he decided to display some of the tires outside his shop—something he rarely did.

Tragically, the fire outbreak engulfed his shop and all the tires, leading to an estimated loss of over half a million naira.

Victims of the fire are now left with little to no hope of recovery, as no official compensation or assistance has been announced.

Meanwhile, the second fuel-laden tanker that veered off the road and crashed into the IBEDC office gate has now been removed from the scene.

This comes after growing concerns from residents and commuters over the potential danger posed by the flammable content of the truck, which remained at the accident site as of this morning.

The removal has eased fears of another possible explosion, although the extent of damage caused by the first tanker’s explosion continues to unfold.

As clean-up efforts begin, residents are calling for stricter enforcement of road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.

Authorities are also urged to take immediate action to prevent future occurrences and provide relief to those affected.
