By FORMER Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has dismissed social-media reports alleging that he is in poor health, describing the claim as false, mischievous, and intended to cause unnecessary panic.
In a statement said to be issued on Friday and signed by his spokesperson, Dr Paul Nwosu, the former governor reassured family members, friends, supporters and political associates both in Nigeria and abroad that he remains in excellent health.
“Chief Willie Obiano wishes to affirm that, by the special grace of God, he is hale and hearty. His health remains in excellent condition,” the statement read.
Dr Nwosu condemned the circulation of what he called a desperate and irresponsible Facebook post crafted to mislead the public and generate sensational online traffic.
“It is regrettable that some individuals resort to spreading falsehoods simply to create social-media content. Such acts of mischief are unacceptable and will not go unpunished,” he said.
The public has been urged to disregard the rumour in its entirety.
Chief Obiano served as Governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022.
