AFCON 2025: Akpabio Hails Super Eagles’ Bronze, Says Triumph Will Inspire Nigerians

PRESIDENT of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated the Super Eagles for their bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, describing the achievement as a source of national pride and inspiration.

Akpabio conveyed his goodwill in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, following Nigeria’s victory over Egypt in the third-place play-off.

“On behalf of my family, my constituents and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Super Eagles on their outstanding achievement in securing the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations,” the Senate President said.

He noted that the encounter against the Pharaohs of Egypt showcased the team’s skill, discipline and determination, commending the players for their exceptional performance on the continental stage.

According to Akpabio, the victory reflects the resilience, talent and fighting spirit for which Nigeria is renowned, adding that the nation remains proud of the team’s representation at the tournament.

“I urge you to celebrate this achievement with pride and to use it as motivation to strive for even greater heights in your future endeavours,” he said.

The Senate President further stressed that the Super Eagles’ success would inspire millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, particularly the younger generation, to pursue excellence despite challenges.

“Once again, congratulations to the Super Eagles on this remarkable feat. May this bronze medal remind you of your immense capabilities and the heights that can be reached through hard work and determination,” Akpabio added.
