In a message shared on his official social media handle, President Tinubu said the Super Eagles rose above the heartbreak of their semi-final defeat to host nation Morocco to secure a deserved victory over Egypt in the third-place match.
“I congratulate our gallant Super Eagles on their hard-earned bronze medal at AFCON 2025. Despite the heartbreak of the semi-final loss to Morocco, our Super Eagles showed resilience, overcame Egypt, and made us proud,” the President stated.
Tinubu described the bronze medal as a reward for courage and perseverance, noting that the achievement symbolised the indomitable Nigerian spirit.
“This bronze medal surely feels good like gold. Congratulations, Nigeria,” he added.
The President’s message has since drawn widespread reactions from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, many of whom commended the Super Eagles for restoring national pride and ending the tournament on a high note.
Nigeria’s third-place finish at AFCON 2025 further reinforces the country’s status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses and offers renewed optimism ahead of future international competitions.
