Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

THE Inspector-General of Police, (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, on Friday joined Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to inaugurate the Police Tactical Operations Centre (PTOC) in Rumuepirikom, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The state-of-the-art facilities were executed by the outgoing government of the state.

Stonix News reports that the PTOC contains state-of-the-art facilities for investigations and tactical operations.

The PTOC, as gathered, is designed with a specific focus on the trends of crime in the state.

It will also serve as a base for information and intelligence gathering as well as specialized deployments to tackle crimes of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

IGP Baba appreciated Governor Wike for his continual commitment to policing reforms and improvement of police operational structures within Rivers State.

He charged the Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers State to make effective use of the centre in tackling crimes and criminality, as well as ensuring the state is safe for all and sundry.

The IGP equally seized the opportunity to reiterate the readiness and commitment of the force to incorporate all and sundry into a community and ICT-based policing system towards improved security and public safety in Nigeria
