PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, just days after submitting the first batch of three names.
In two separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu urged the Senate to give swift consideration and confirmation to 15 career ambassador nominees and 17 non-career nominees.

Omokri, FFK and others
The new list, according to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), features four women among the career diplomat nominees and six women among the non-career nominees.
Prominent figures on the non-career list include Barrister Ogbonnaya Kalu from Abia State; former presidential aide Reno Omokri (Delta); former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmud Yakubu; former Ekiti First Lady, Erelu Angela Adebayo; and former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Also nominated are former Speaker of the Katsina House of Assembly, Tasiu Musa Maigari; former Plateau State Commissioner, Yakubu N. Gambo; and former Deputy Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). Others include Professor Nora Ladi Daduut, a former senator from Plateau; former Lagos Deputy Governor, Otunba Femi Pedro; former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode; and Barrister Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu from Anambra.

The list further includes former Oyo First Lady, Fatima Florence Ajimobi; former Lagos Commissioner, Lola Akande; former Adamawa Senator, Grace Bent; former Abia Governor, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu; Ondo Senator and businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim; and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Holy See, Paul Oga Adikwu.
The career ambassador and high commissioner nominees are Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu (Abia), Yakubu Nyaku Danladi (Taraba), Miamuna Ibrahim Besto (Adamawa), Musa Musa Abubakar (Kebbi), Syndoph Paebi Endoni (Bayelsa), Chima Geoffrey Lioma David (Ebonyi), and Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim (Ogun).
Others include Abimbola Samuel Reuben (Ondo), Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah (Edo), Hamza Mohammed Salau (Niger), Ambassador Shehu Barde (Katsina), Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno (Borno), Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru (Kaduna), Ambassador Olatunji Ahmed Sulu Gambari (Kwara), and Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande (Osun).

The nominees are expected to be deployed to strategic partner nations, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, and to multilateral missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union. Specific postings will be assigned after Senate confirmation.
Last week, the President submitted three names for top ambassadorial postings — Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa), and retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun). They are being considered for positions in the United Kingdom, the United States, or France.
President Tinubu noted that additional ambassadorial nominations will be announced in due course.
