A popular gas plant at Effurun, near Warri, Delta State, late Monday night, went up in flames after a couple of explosions.
The gas is identified as Nelmic Gas Station, opposite Alaka junction, near a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The huge inferno is said to have affected adjoining houses just as fire fighters are said to be battling to stem the rage as of the time of filing the report.
Number of casualty yet unknown, but sources said some persons were affected by the fire incident and currently need urgent medical care.
Short videos sighted by our correspondent showed a crowd of people in pandemonium as the fire rages on.
A motorcycle probably carrying a casualty is seen racing off the scene amid the bellowing inferno.
A source said the explosion started like fire, “but suddenly we had a loud explosion from the gas station.”
During the loud explosion, houses near the scene were shaken to their foundations, while the sound and flames of the explosion were heard and seen some four kilometers away.
