By The Bornu State government has confirmed the abduction of six of its officials by suspected members of Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The six abducted members, who are staff of the Borno State Ministry of Works, were abducted on December 1, 2023, along Chibok-Damboa route.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr Yarima Saleh, reportedly confirmed the incident in Maiduguri on Thursday.
“It is true that, yesterday, December 1, we received a tragic report of an attack and kidnapping incident on our staff along the Chibok-Damboa road, in which six of them have been kidnapped.
“However, three of the six abducted staff are drivers, while two trucks and one Toyota Hilux were seized by the ISWAP.
“The abducted staff were among the workers constructing Chibok-Damboa road which is in progress.
“We have, officially, informed their families and will do our best in order to see that nothing ill happens to them.
“This is the first time we have seen this since we started constructing the Damboa Chibok-Damboa road two years ago,” he lamented.
ISWAP, Wikipedia, “is a militant group and administrative division of the Islamic State, a Salafi jihadist militant group and unrecognised proto-state. ISWAP is primarily active in the Chad Basin, and fights an extensive insurgency against the states of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.”
Stonix News recalls that the terrorists have been waging a guerilla war against Nigeria for over 10 years asking for an islamic state.
Several folks, including the vulnerable children and women, have been uprooted from their ancestral homes with many languishing in IDPs camps.
Several state and private properties have been destroyed by the dreaded terrorists who have also engaged in high profile kidnappings with huge ransoms collected before their release or given a summary execution by decapitation.
Many believe that the Nigerian government has been in a dilemma as to how to actually degrade the elements, but much of propaganda to assuage the impatient citizenry have trailed its genuine efforts.
