The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has vowed to continue the four weeks warning industrial action following the announcement by the Federal Government that parties concerned should return to negotiation table.
The Federal Government, through the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, said on Sunday that the 2009 agreement it had with ASUU should be renegotiated in six weeks.
But in a tweep on Monday by ASUU Chairman, UNICAL Chapter, via @ASUUNGR, the union the ongoing strike would be sustained until all issues are resolved.
It vowed not to participate in the renegotiation, insisting that government was a continuum.
“The only option is continued industrial action until everything is sorted out.
“In fact, the strike should be sustained until all the issues raised by ASUU are completely resolved so that strikes will not become recurrent or yearly;.”- ASUU Chairman, UNICAL Chapter,” the tweep read.
Stonix News recalled that the union embarked on a four-week warning strike to compel the FG to implement the agreement reached with them.
