THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature in Sunday’s 2026 World Cup play-off against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The clarification dispels concerns that the midfielder would miss the match due to accumulated yellow cards. According to a statement on the Super Eagles’ official X handle, CAF confirmed that cautions from the World Cup qualifiers do not carry over into the play-offs, except where a player has a confirmed suspension.

Ndidi impressed in Nigeria’s 4–1 semi-final victory over Gabon, where he captained the team and provided the assist for Chidera Ejuke’s goal.

Nigeria face DR Congo on Sunday at 8 p.m. Nigerian time, with the winner progressing to the intercontinental play-off for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
