By THE Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has met with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in a move to tackle recurring communal clashes and the issue of cattle roaming within Abuja’s city centre.
The meeting, held on 17 September at the Command Headquarters in Garki II, brought together representatives of the three major factions of the association: Miyetti Allah MACBAN, Miyetti Allah KAUTAHURI, and Miyetti Allah FALAKO YESU-YESU.
Addressing the gathering, CP Adewale expressed concern over the frequent involvement of some herders in communal conflicts.
He stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among residents, while issuing a firm warning against the continued movement of cattle within the Abuja metropolis.
“This practice cannot continue. We must prioritise the safety, peace, and rights of all citizens in the FCT,” the commissioner said.
In their response, Miyetti Allah leaders described the meeting as historic, noting it was the first time an FCT Commissioner of Police had held such an interactive session with them.
They pledged to enforce the resolutions reached and provide feedback within one week.
The FCT Police Command has assured residents that it will closely monitor compliance, engage stakeholders on grazing land concerns, and strengthen community policing measures to forestall further conflicts.
