Furious student beats teacher to death in Delta

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

A furious student, Michael Ogbeise, has beaten his teacher, to death in Delta State.

It could not be ascertained as of the time of filing the report if the actual name of the deceased teacher is Joseph Ezeugo or Joseph Ossai.

The incident occurred on Thursday, December 2, in the university community of Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

A lethal fisticuffs between a youth and his teacher took place in a private school identified as Erhimu Secondary School, Abraka.

The assailant, Master Ogbeife, said to be a Senior Secondary School 3 student, reportedly descended on his teacher, Joseph, for allegedly flogging his sister, Promise Ogbeise.

Promise was said to had had a brawl with one of her classmates which brought about the intervention of the teacher.

Stonix News gathered that the late Joseph was, until his killing, the teacher in charge of Agricultural Science and Biology in the school.

Sources from the school said Michael left the school’s premises in anger after seeing his sister flogged to his dislike.

He reportedly returned and headed straight to the staff room to confront the teacher.

Although rumoured, it could not be ascertained if the furious student hit the teacher with a ‘magic’ charm.

But the teacher was said to have suddenly collapsed after receiving some punches with a bloody nose and mouth from the student.

He was rushed to a private hospital in the community, then to a government hospital where he sources said he was confirmed dead.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bight Edafe, when contacted, however, said that the suspect had bolted.

“The suspect is nowhere to be found for now, but her sister is in a protective custody,” he quipped.

Meanwhile, the school’s proprietor, Mr. Erhimu, has said he was yet to have full details of what actually transpired.

Erhimu, who immediately shut the school to probably avert a reprisal attack, said he was not in the school when the ugly incident happened.

He debunked the rumours making the rounds that the perceived deaths recorded the school of recent could be ritual related.

“Whatsoever anybody will say about me I don’t care. This is a school I have been running for 35 years.

“If a tragedy happened like this, I don’t care what they say….that someone will start reading meaning to it.

“God Almighty that I serve will punish such persons that want to blackmail me except I have a hand in these deaths,” he swore.
