NIGERIAN actress Kate Henshaw has spoken candidly about her past marriage to British man Roderick James Nuttal, shedding light on the difficulties that eventually led to their separation.
Henshaw revealed that while the marriage initially appeared stable, it soon became troubled, marked by mistrust and repeated accusations of infidelity. According to her, although she remained faithful, her former husband was the one “hiding things and running after other women.”
The couple married in 1999 and welcomed a daughter in 2000. However, by 2011, Henshaw said the relationship had completely broken down. “He would come home late, make noise, break things, and when I tried to talk, he shouted me down and made me feel small. Our home turned into a war zone, and I was losing myself,” she recounted.
Faced with constant turmoil, the award-winning actress made the decision to leave. “In the end, I had to choose my peace and my sanity. Walking away wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Divorce didn’t break me—it helped me find myself again,” she said.
Since the divorce, Henshaw has focused on her career, personal growth, and overall wellbeing. She noted that the experience taught her the importance of prioritising inner peace over appearances. “Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, if it’s not working, don’t force it. Peace of mind will always be more important than pretending everything is okay,” she added.
Henshaw’s revelation has been praised by fans as a bold message of resilience and a reminder that choosing peace can often be the path to healing.
