ASABA: Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has appealed to journalists across Nigeria to assist the government in sentisitizing Nigerians to embrace the COVID-19 vaccine.

He expressed worries that in spite of the availability of COVID-19 vaccines across health centres across Nigeria, patronage appears low among Deltans, especially.

According to him, the outbreak of virulent COVID-19 variants – Delta and Omicron – has made it absolute for Nigerians to go take the jabs for their safety.

“Deltans and Nigerians are not accessing the vaccines enough; it is safe and many people are not taking advantage of the free vaccines.

“There has been no single case of death in Nigeria as a result of the vaccine.

“The vaccines are there just that the people are not accessing them enough, so.

“I urge the media to assist us in educating the people on the need to take the vaccines,” he pleaded during the last quarterly media chat in Asaba with select journalists across the state on Tuesday.
