HERITAGE Oil Ltd and Heritage Operational Services Ltd (HEOSL) has tasked participants at the ongoing Strategic International Conference of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) on discussions around energy transition, energy security, and financial and production sustainability of the oil industry in Nigeria.
Stonix News reports that HEOSL, which operates the OML 30 Joint Venture between the NNPC E & P Ltd and Shoreline Natural Resources Ltd, is a prolific asset with huge potentials for contributing to the nation’s daily oil and gas output.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HEOSL, Ado Oseragbaje, gave the charge during his remarks on Thursday at the NAEC Conference themed: ‘Energy Transition: Shaping the Future of Nigeria’s Energy Industry, ’An Appraisal of PIA, Evolving Benefits and Challenges,’ holding in Lagos, Nigeria.
He described the theme of the conference as timely and reflective of the most topical subjects in the industry today, including issues surrounding the newly-passed Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
“As we proceed with the various sessions at this conference, I encourage you all to consider effectively defining the Nigerian narrative on the energy transition, with focus on energy security, financial and production sustainability as well as how to address the security issues affecting the productivity of the industry.
“I also encourage you to explore the roles each stakeholder could play in making a success of the statutory provision in the PIA for the benefit of all,” he noted.
Oseragbaje underscored the essence of the conversion around the PIA, saying the Nigeria energy industry must continue to engage as the world seeks to transition to net zero emission come 2050.
“Historically, this conference has provided an annual platform for leaders in the energy industry, policy makers, regulators, and other key stakeholders in the industry to converge and exchange thoughts on critical matters affecting the industry as well as evolving effective ideas for advancing the development of our important industry.
“This year’s theme: ‘Energy Transition: Shaping the Future of Nigeria’s Energy Industry, ’An Appraisal of PIA, Evolving Benefits and Challenges,’ is reflective of the most topical subjects in the industry today.
“As the world seeks to transition to net zero emission in 2050, the Nigeria energy industry continues to engage to identify its place in the global scheme of things.
“The conversation of energy transition has many faces for our country.
“Transitioning from one form of energy to a cleaner form, transition from one form of industry governance to another, transitioning from one fiscal regime to another as well as the key issue of transitioning from one form of stakeholder engagement paradigm to another as represented by the statutory provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act of 2021.
“As Africa’s largest economy and the 6th largest exporter of crude oil in the world, we cannot over discuss these subjects that portend significant implications for the industry which is the mainstay of our economy.
“At Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL), we are helping to create a platform for these important industry engagements by our sponsorship of this conference.
“HEOSL is the operator of the OML 30 Joint Venture between the NNPC E & P Limited and Shoreline Natural Resources Ltd, a prolific asset with huge potentials for contributing to the nation’s daily oil and gas output.
“As we proceed with the various sessions at this conference, I encourage you all to consider effectively defining the Nigerian narrative on the energy transition, with focus on energy security, financial and production sustainability as well as how to address the security issues affecting the productivity of the industry.
“I also encourage you to explore the roles each stakeholder could play in making a success of the statutory provision in the PIA for the benefit of all,” he charged.
The HEOSL boss thanked the organizers and all participants at the conference for their time commitment and wished them a productive conference.
