A Lexus car, said to be in high speed rammed a crowd waiting to board taxis, killing five persons at Okpanam junction, Asaba, Delta State.
Stonix News gathered that the accident occurred at about 3:10p.m on Sunday, September 18 , 2022 at Okpanam junction by the Benin/Asaba highway.
The blue coloured Lexus saloon car said to be coming from the Asaba axis of the expressway, after ramming the crowd of persons waiting to board vehicles to their different locations, killed five persons on the spot.
An eyewitness said the speed at which the car descended the hill from the Okpanam Police Station located at the expressway, smacked of a failed break or fatigue.
Amid the melee that ensued after the gory accident, the driver was said to have bolted away which made the angry crowd to set the killer-car ablaze.
One of the deceased was identified as a wife of a staff of the Ministry of Information, one Mrs. Amos.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the fatal accident.
He also told Stonix News on WhatsApp chat on Tuesday evening that the fleeing killer-driver has been arrested.
