Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

The Lagos State government has announced a total ban on the use of amplifiers to attract passengers in all motor parks across the state.

The ban is part of its long-term plans to curb noise pollution prevalent across motor parks in the state.

She said no motor park in Lagos from Tuesday was allowed to use amplifier to call passengers to their commercial vehicles.

“What we want to announce and reiterate that no motor park in Lagos from today, is allowed to use amplifiers to call passengers for music or to propagate beliefs.

“It is a violation of the environmental protection laws of the state,” she noted.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, also re-echoed the ban.

He saif that any motor park caught violating the order would be shut outright, adding that the person with the amplifier would be sanctioned and prosecuted.
