By Foluke Adeboye, the wife of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed that her family’s dog died on 1 January after eating poisoned food that had been delivered to their home.

The 77-year-old cleric recounted the near tragedy in a video recently shared with church members, stating that the household, narrowly, escaped harm when the suspicious meal was removed from their table.
Mrs Adeboye explained that the food had been brought to their residence as one of many New Year gifts received that day.
However, struck by a sudden sense of unease, she, instinctively, instructed her staff to feed the dish to the dogs instead.
“Somebody on New Year’s Day brought food to our house. Of course, so many people had been coming and going, eating and celebrating. I just went into the kitchen and asked who owned this food. They said someone had brought it. I looked at the food and told them to give it to the dogs,” she recounted.
She added that a visitor from London who witnessed the decision was taken aback.
“One woman who came from London was watching me, and she almost scolded me, but because I’m a mother, she couldn’t say anything immediately. But within an hour, the gateman brought the news that the dog had died,” she explained.
Foluke Adeboye went on to warn the congregation about what could have happened if the family had eaten the meal.
“Imagine that on New Year’s Day, somebody in Daddy GO’s house had eaten that food — or three or four people had eaten it. What would the news have been?” she asked.
She used the experience as a cautionary tale, urging worshippers to exercise spiritual discernment and vigilance when receiving gifts, especially during festive seasons.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Foluke married in 1967 and have four children.
