Police Begin Mandatory Third Party Insurance Enforcement Tomorrow 


THE Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to enforcing the Mandatory Third Party Insurance policy, which will take effect from tomorrow, 1st February 2025. 

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), in a statement on Friday, said the initiative is aimed at strengthening road safety measures and ensure that all vehicle owners comply with insurance requirements, safeguarding both themselves and other road users.

The Force, therefore, warned vehicle owners and operators against failing to comply with what it described as “crucial regulation.”

According to the statement, vehicle owners without valid Third Party Insurance will face strict enforcement actions, including fines and other penalties as stipulated by relevant laws.

He said from 1st February, all vehicle owners, across the country, must possess valid Third Party Insurance while on the road.

Those without it, it reiterated, are advised to obtain coverage immediately to avoid embarrassment or legal repercussions.

The Inspector-General, therefore, instructed all State Commissioners of Police to ensure full enforcement, empowering officers to conduct checks and impose penalties on defaulters in accordance with existing laws, the statement further read.

The Nigeria Police Force, it added, remains committed to improving road safety and protecting lives through the enforcement of traffic regulations, urging the public to co-operate with the force.
