Public Defender Dies While Celebrating Wedding Anniversary In Mexico

Michael Chukwuebuka, Reporting

A California public defender who died while celebrating his first wedding anniversary in Mexico, according to the family’s lawyer, David Scarsone, on Tuesday 17th, is believed to be the victim of a “brutal crime”.

33-year-old Elliot Blair died on Saturday 14th, outside his hotel room at Las Rocas Resort and Spa, Rosarito Beach, 32 miles south of San Diego, report says.

Blair was found in his underwear; socks and a sleeping T-shirt outside a room where he and his wife had stayed.

“The incident occurred in an open-air walkway on the resort’s third floor,” Scarsone said.

The victims family were not informed about the incident; instead, they got the information from a “liaison”, that Blair died of severe head trauma and that his case had been forwarded to prosecutors for a possible homicide investigation.

Reports also have it that neither Rosarita Beach Mayor, Hilda Araceli Brown Figueredo nor Las Rocas Resort responded to a request for comment from reporters on Tuesday 17th of January.

A source who craved anonymity confirmed that Blair’s death appeared to have been the result of an unfortunate accident from a fall by the now deceased from a third-story floor.

Some reports also suggested the victim was intoxicated, which led to the tragic fall.

Mexican authorities, in a statement, said they are investigating and are in contact with U.S. officials who are informing Blair’s family.
