A randy father, Ganiyu Aikore, has put his 17-year-old daughter in family way and also made attempts to abort the pregnancy.
The abominable sacrilege occurred at the Mokola, Isale Tapa area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
A police source, on Wednesday, said upon discovering that he had impregnated his daughter, Aikore allegedly approached a nearby pharmaceutical store to procure what were suspected to be abortion pills.
The victim suspected the drugs her father gave her were to terminate the 23-week-old pregnancy.
As a result, she opened up to some residents of the community, who, in turn, reported the matter to the chairman of the community.
The chairman, it was further revealed, took the daughter to the Adatan Police Division to file complaints against her father.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said preliminary investigation showed that Aikore had been having carnal knowledge of his daughter for several years.
“We have arrested him. He was suspected to have been sexually involved with his teenage daughter for a very long time.
“The pregnancy is 23 weeks. We are conducting further investigation,” she told journalists.
