OSUN State governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has approved the payment of February 2016 half salary arrears for the state’s civil servant with a directive that, the payment should be treated with utmost urgency.
The state’s head of service, Mr K.N. Akintola, made the approval known in a circular dated 22nd February 2023 and spotted by Stonix News.
The governor, according to him, has approved another batch of half-salary arrears for the state and local government civil servants.
It was gathered that payment has already begun as the state civil servants are already receiving credit alerts to that effect.
It will be recalled that the governor had earlier paid the January 2016 half-salary arrears to the state workforce and approved modalities for the payment of all the 30-month half-salary arrears inherited from the previous governments of Mr Raufu Aregbesola and his successor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola.
Meanwhile, joyous reactions have continued to trail the magnanimous gesture of the Adeleke government less than 48 hours to Saturday presidential election.
One of the workers, who benefitted, simply said: “That’s real Omoluabi; Not the one of ogbeni.”
Another worker simply quipped in astonishment: “Imagine 2016 salary! This APC administration is wicked.
“Many have lost their lives over the non-payment of salaries then.”
Yet another beneficiary worker waxed thus: “Osun workers will come out en mass to cast their votes for presidential and National Assembly elections. And they also said no money They are so wicked.”
