The Traditional High Chiefs of Ogbomoso Kingdom have announced a seven-day restriction of movements starting from Monday, December 13, 2021.
This is sequel to the demise and burial of the monarch, Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III last Sunday.
The restriction, which is between 10:00p.m to 5:00a.m daily for the seven days, will affect areas like: Ode Aremo, Ita Popo, Oja Igbo, Oja Jagun, Isale Ora, Alasa, Oke Elerin and Agodo areas of the town.
The restriction is to ensure a seamless traditional rites of passage to mourn the monarch who joined his ancestors last Sunday morning.
In a statement sighted by Stonix News with no signature attached to it, “staff, students and other stakeholders in Ogbomoso metropolis and it environments are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid non- essential movements during the stipulated time.”
“We want all stakeholders and travellers to please cooperate with the community during the seven days period,” the statement further read.
The late Soun of Ogbomoso, who was interred on Sunday afternoon according to Islamic rites, was aged 95.
The Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Tholiat Oluwasina Ayilara, conducted the burial rite at the palace of the Soun.
Some dignitaries at the funeral included the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi and former governors Rashidi Ladoja and Adebayo Alao-Akala, among others.
