THE Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Marrakech, gearing up for their high-profile Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 quarter-final clash against Algeria’s Desert Foxes.
The team landed at Marrakech-Menara Airport at approximately 4:14 p.m. local time on Thursday, following a short flight of just over an hour from Fès.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the squad has settled into the Savoy Le Grand Hotel, which will serve as their base throughout their stay in the city.
The team’s Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed the smooth arrival and stated that the immediate focus is on player recovery and final preparations. “We had a smooth trip from Fès despite the tight schedule, and the focus now is on recovery and preparation,” Efoghe told NAN.
He also announced that all media activities planned for Thursday had been postponed to allow the players essential rest after their late arrival. “Given the late arrival, the players requested time to rest, and we urge everyone to respect that decision,” he said.
Efoghe assured that the team’s schedule would be communicated promptly, adding, “Further details, especially regarding activities on the day before the match, will be shared with the media as soon as they are confirmed.”
It is anticipated that the Eagles will hold a training session at the Grande Stade Annex 2 from 6 p.m., though timings remain provisional. Media access to the session will be restricted to the regulation 15 minutes, in line with tournament rules.
Nigeria will face Algeria in one of the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals at the Stade de Marrakech, with kick-off scheduled for 5 p.m. local time.
