Rampaging terrorists in Katsina State, home-state of President Muhammadu Buhari, have killed five policemen and three civilians in Kankara Local Government Area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isa, confirmed the killing, saying it occured late evening of Wednesday.
He said the rampaging terrorists were more than 300 riding on motorcycles and were armed with AK-47 rifles, among other weapons.
He said they carried out the attack at Gatikawa village of Kankara at about 6:30p.m on Wednesday.
Stonix News gathered from a local that the terrorists operated for more than an hour, moving from house-to-house to loot food items, money and other bear necessities.
It was further gathered that several villagers sustained injuries during the attack as some have been hospitalized and are currently receiving treatment.
Isah, who confirmed the incident to the press, said a total of eight persons were killed during the attack.
He said the victims included five policemen and three civilians, and that the policemen killed were on special duty to the area from the Kano State Police Command.
“The terrorists were over 300 and were fully armed. The five policemen were from Kano on special duty to Gatikawa village in Katsina State.
“They attacked them at 6:45p.m. The terrorists also killed three civilians. Investigation is ongoing,” SP Gambo Isah said.
