Marriage Sex Sexuality With Dr Danson

Val! Are You In A Sex-Starved Marriage?

By Riches Danson

WHEN I talk about sex starved marriage, it’s not about the number of times per week or per month couples are actually having sex!

After all, unlike vitamins, there’s no daily or weekly minimum requirement to ensure a healthy sex life, instead, the sex-starved marriage is one in which one spouse is longing for more touch, more physical closeness, more sex, and here’s the other spouse thinking what’s the big deal?

It’s just sex. But it’s a huge deal because it’s really about feeling wanted, loved, and connected. Couples, who experience this kind of sex, desire gap, stop spending time together, stop watching TV together, don’t laugh at each other’s jokes, and quit being friends; it places the marriage at risk of infidelity and of divorce!

There’s a misconception that what I’m talking about is the typical scenario of a man who has a permanent erection and is more interested in sex than his wife is. Often, it’s the woman who has the higher drive!

What is sex starved? Sex starved is desiring but deprived of sexual gratification.

Is it unhealthy not to have sex?

Without regular intercourse, your vagina can tighten and its tissues can get thinner and be more likely to get injured, tear, or even bleed during sex.
This can be so uncomfortable that women with these symptoms avoid having sex which can make it worse!

People refer to not having sex for a long time as celibacy or abstinence; when someone does not have sex for months or years, they are unlikely to notice any negative physical side effects on their health!

It is showed that having regular sex can result in certain health benefits, including improved immune system function, reduced blood pressure, lower stress levels ,and less risk of cardiovascular health issues!

In males, prostrate health can benefit from frequent ejaculation.
Men, who ejaculated at least 21 times per month, had a lower risk of prostate cancer compared with those who ejaculated 4-7 times per month.
