(+VIDEOS) Alleged N2.9b fraud: Okorocha Moved To Court For Trial

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

Former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, has been moved to the Federal High Court, Abuja for trial in a 17-count suit bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N2.9 billion.

Mr. Okorocha is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Stonix News reports that Mr. Okorocha, who is a serving Senator, was, last Tuesday, arrested after an eight-hour siege to his Maitama residence by personnel of the EFCC for repeatedly failing to honour invitations.

The EFCC had, on January 24, 2022, filed the 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9 billion against the former Imo State governor.

Trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, said today Monday affords the anti-graft agency the last chance to have their day in court after the Senator’s arraignment had stalled on two previous occasions the matter had come up for mention, on account of the defendant’s absence.
