3-Day Stay-At-Home Likely In Nigeria

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

A three-day stay-at-home is likely across the Western African country of Nigeria, as the National Housing and Population Census exercise kicks off.

The restriction of movement was disclosed by the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, during a meeting with the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja on Thursday.

Stonix News reports that the 2023 census will likely kick off on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, and run until Sunday, May 7, 2023.

The date of commencement has, however, not been ascertained until consultations with subnational governors.

Hon. Kwarra also said that the commission would work with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to determine the best way for the Diplomatic Corps to participate in the exercise.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, had underscored the importance of census in Nigeria’s national development.
