Update: How Man Died On Fuel Queue In Ibadan

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

DETAILS of how a yet-to-be-identified man reportedly died at Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, while queuing to buy fuel at a petrol station have emerged.

Stonix News had reported that the incident happened on Thursday morning.

The deceased was said to be resting his head on the steering of his car and had given up the ghost unknown to other fuel seekers on the queue.

Other buyers on the queue were said to have hooted their car horns for the deceased to move forward on the queue only to discover that he had long given up the ghost.

Stonix News gathered that the victim’s car number plate was AKD 878 GP.

Some police operatives, who were alerted, had reportedly moved the corpse and deposited it at an undisclosed morgue.

“The man’s identity is still unknown. He looked like an Alhaji and was sitting in his car with one leg on the pedal while the other on the ground with his door opened,” an eyewitness narrated.

The manager of the station, identified as Bovas Filling Station, told journalists that the case was swiftly reported to the police, who came to take the body away.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, has yet to react.

Recall that immediately the incident happened on Thursday, a source who was at the scene of the incident told Stonix News that “Someone died in his car at Bovas Fuel Station, opposite Yale Biscuits Factory.

“I went to queue too around 10:00a.m, but I left when I noticed the queue was too long.

“I just received the news now; I will update you later if I can get the details.”

In Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State, queues of vehicle scouting for fuel are still rife, but only in filling stations said to be religious with dispensing at the official rate of N187 or so.

A litre of petrol is, however, sold for within the range of N250 and N260 in other filling stations who have the product and where there’s hardly any queue.
