MIFFED by the unremitting high cost of food items and commodities, stakeholders, including the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, have taken 14 far-reaching resolutions to crash the ugly situation.
The resolutions, which have been adopted by the Osemawe-In-Council, were arrived at during a stakeholders meeting held at the Osemawe Palace Hall recently.
The resolution, which was signed by Comr Kayode Igbekoyi on behalf of the youths president, Comr Kayode Folajogun, and obtained by Stonix News, followed a seven-day ultimatum given by the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr Adesimbo Kiladejo Jilo 3, to the Iyaloja of Ondo kingdom, Chief Mrs Bukola Akinniyi, to meet with Ondo market women.
The 14-point resolutions include the following:
“That imposition of association membership of any kind on traders is prohibited in Ondo kingdom
“That Ondo markets are declared free and open for every legal trader
“That traders in legal items or wares from other communities, towns or states can trade freely in Ondo kingdom
“That all moribund and abandoned community markets e.g Odosida, Okelisa, Ayeyemi, Akinjagunla,Igba,Oka, odojomu including neighborhood markets etc., should be revamped
“That steps being taken to create more alternative markets like Shasha, Kara should be expedited
“That any sellers or traders who feel threatened while selling her goods in Ondo city should call concerned constituted authorities, Iyaloja or youth president
“That Iyaloja should make necessary publicity concerning the resolutions of market women on Osemawe’s directive
“That any fuel station selling above approved pump price or exorbitant cost would be sealed off
“That collection of extra charges on transactions done on any company’s POS machine especially fuel stations is canceled forthwith
“That strict measures would be taken against any fuel station especially independent marketers who hoards fuel and dupe buyers and Ondo residents by selling inaccurate meter measures
“That steps being taken by Ondo kingdom through the Osemawe in council to upgrade Agbogboke Injector transformer would be accelerated
“That Ondo youths should be empowered to engage in agriculture and trading that could lead to the amelioration of current economic hardships being witnessed in Ondo kingdom and Nigeria at large
“That bad conducts of some local government officials extorting goods motor drivers coming into Ondo markets and market women by extension is stopped forthwith
“That intelligence and community task force team will be out to see to the implementation of the resolutions highlighted above.”
