Meanwhile, the state governor, Oborevwori, has expressed delight over the partnership with CNL over the years and noted that the government will continue to ensure cordial relationship between the communities and the company.

“I have known Chevron all my life because I am a Warri boy. There is nothing I do not know about Chevron. Many companies left Warri, but Chevron is still here with us.

“That is why, whenever there are community issues, I always urge our people to cooperate with the company,” he asserted.

Oborevwori acknowledged Chevron’s corporate social responsibility efforts, but urged the company to do more, particularly in employment opportunities for locals.

“Our people need more, and you have promised to do more. One of the key concerns is employment. We want our people to be given job opportunities.

“When there are vacancies, prioritise the host communities. They will be happy if they see their people in top management positions, not just as casual staff,” he admonished.
