HIGH Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of High Chief Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, describing it as a significant loss to Nigeria.
In a condolence message personally signed and made available to journalists on Tuesday, Tompolo extended his sympathies to the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family, the South-South geopolitical zone, and the entire nation.
He revealed that the news of Senator Clark’s death came as a shock.
“Even though he was old, he was full of life and kicking. Hence, I was surprised to hear of his death this morning,” he said.
Acknowledging Senator Clark’s impact on Nigeria, Tompolo described him as a “unique and potent voice” who played a crucial role in the country’s leadership.
“There is no denying that this death has put a vacuum in the country’s leadership structure. He was a democratic and socio-economic crusader,” he stated.
Tompolo praised the late statesman’s fearless advocacy for justice, saying, “Senator Clark was a strong, fearless, and irrepressible individual who spoke truth to power.
“He was a voice for the voiceless and a father for the fatherless. We will miss him.”
He concluded by praying for strength for the bereaved family and the nation, calling the loss “irreparable.”
