A seminarian named Peter Andrew lost his life during the rescue operation of Rev. Father Philip Ekeli, who was abducted from St. Peter Catholic Church in Iviukha on March 3, 2025.
The Edo State Police Command, in a press statement through its spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
Stonix News reports that although the rescue operation, which took place in Amughe Community around 4:50 p.m. Thursday, March 13, was a success, but Andrew was tragically caught in the crossfire.
According to reports, the police and vigilante members conducted an intensive search and rescue operation, which led to Ekeli’s release.
The seminarian’s remains, as of the time of filing this report, were still being sought, and efforts were being made to arrest the remaining abductors.
