A 43-year-old man, Pere Faruk, allegedly poured acid on his girlfriend, Kemi Bashiru, during a domestic dispute on Lagos Island, and later died by suicide.
The incident occurred on June 30 at around 5:40 p.m. at No. 8 Messy Street.
According to reports, Faruk’s brother, Pere Jeli, who lives nearby, was alerted to the incident and raised the alarm.
Stonix News gathered that Bashiru was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, where she is being treated for severe burns.
After the attack, Faruk was found unresponsive in his room with a bottle of insecticide nearby, suggesting he had taken his own life.
His body was taken to the hospital and later moved to a public mortuary for an autopsy.
The police are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation and its tragic outcome.
