An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) has collapsed and died in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The police community in Ebonyi State has been thrown into mourning following the death of ACP Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola.
The late officer, who was in charge of the State Intelligence Department (SID), reportedly slumped during a management meeting at the Ebonyi State Police Command headquarters in Abakaliki at about 11:00 am.
A police source disclosed to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) that Popoola suddenly developed breathing difficulties and began gasping for breath during the meeting, prompting officials to rush him to hospital for urgent medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the ACP suffered a medical crisis during the meeting and was immediately taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

His remains have since been deposited at the morgue of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA 1) in Abakaliki.
